Dana’s grandma left a great impression on her with the sewing fiber arts of quilting. A few days ago, Dana posted this photo asking for opinions whether she should finish it as Option A (Left) or Option B (Right). The image on the right is how the pattern, crochet Amish Star by Dorrisa Smith, from the book Ultimate Book of Quilt Afghans published by Annie’s Attic in 2000. [This book is currently out of print as well as the stand alone pattern. Perhaps if enough inquire about it, there is a chance of another edition or release? *nudgenudgewinkwink*

TCL_OpenQuotationMark My grandma sews beautiful quilts. She has tried to teach me to sew, but sadly, sewing and I just don’t get along. I have always loved seeing her finished products and the joy is brings the recipients of all her hard work. She made a quilt for me that is absolutely stunning. Years ago, I displayed it on a spare bed in my home to enjoy it’s beauty. I ended up moving it to a quilt rack from fear of my cats damaging it. I missed the pretty quilt on the bed. I was at a yard sale and saw the ‘Annie’s Attic Ultimate Quilt Book’ and fell in love with this pattern. I immediately bought the yarn to make this. One thing or another kept getting in my way, then I had my first son, then went back to college, then had my second son… and 6 years later I decided it was time to take that yarn off the shelf and make my blanket. I have seen so many beautiful variations of the corner to corner afghans here on facebook, and before I would make a regular one, I told myself I would start and finish this. I can’t wait to have this 100% complete and laid out in my home!

Here’s a look at Dana’s quilt from her grandmother that inspired her to crochet and finish this UFO/WIP/almost done awesomeness.

  1. Option B! I can not believe that is crocheted? It has me wanting to put the needles down and get hooking again!

  2. Definitely like b more. Follows center pattern better. Beautiful!

Drop the hook & leave a message :D
