~ Love Inspired ~ Suzanne Lyke 2012 Crochet Donations

I was simply overcome by the emotion of L♥VE seeing this image this morning, so here’s to sharing to the world :) Crochet is a universal language that transcends the verbal barrier. This photo speaks volumes and is only part of the 538 hats Suzanne made to donate along with mittens donated by Rangel Montelbano Rose Ann…

Suzanne Lyke 2012 Crochet Donations

Suzanne Lyke & her 2012 Contributions to the Baby Pantry, Fish Inc Oscoda, Toys for Tots, My Brother’s Hope in Harrisville, Michigan, shoe boxes for the Dominican Republic, and hats for newborns at the local hospital.

Suzanne’s crochet journey and inspiration in a nutshell, “I’ve been crocheting for over 58 years, my grandmother taught me when was 6 and it’s been a lifelong love. I’m a retired special ed teacher and when you work in the schools you see the need . One of my teacher friends volunteers for a baby pantry and a Christian organization in out area that does a Christmas giveaway for Human Services and she asked me several years ago if I would do some hats for her groups.”

Quite simply, it is amazing what one single act can turn into! Now Suzanne is inspiring others to help with her efforts, either donating yarn, money for yarn, and finished mittens (it is very cold in Michigan in the winter and it is difficult for Suzanne to make mittens due to arthritis). Suzanne’s donations has expanded from the Baby Pantry and Fish Inc Oscoda, to Toys for Tots, My Brother’s Hope in Harrisville, Michigan, shoe boxes for the Dominican Replublic with a local church, and newborn hats for the local hospital.

Aside from working on donations year-round, Suzanne enjoys making baby blankets for family and friends among other things, but mainly, she saves December as her ‘make what she wants’ month. From her own words, she simply chooses this as a method of dealing with her pain from her health issues.

Suzanne attributes this to her beliefs in Christianity and she “take(s) seriously what Christ said about I was naked and you clothed me, hungry and you fed me-I truly believe Faith without works is dead. Please feel free to ask any questions you may still have and thank you for your kind thoughts.”
